Remit

De-vegetation, ecological works and rabbit netting installation across various sites in the Eastern Region to mitigate embankment destabilisation caused by rabbit burrows. Access via possessions, IRATA and third-party agreements.

Delivery

Full ecological works and licenses were obtained prior to any works commencing, with our in-house ecology team managing all protected species surveys and licensing requirements to keep the programme moving.

Over 2 linear miles and 30,000m² of rabbit netting was installed across multiple sites. Access solutions included Network Rail possessions, IRATA rope access and third-party land agreements, with de-vegetation self-delivered to clear the installation path ahead of the netting teams.

Outcome

More than 30,000m² of rabbit netting installed across the Eastern Region in 2025/2026, with all ecological licensing secured in-house and access delivered without delay to programme.
